Roane State Library is hosting a book signing on Tuesday, November 17 at 3:30pm in the City Room on the Oak Ridge Branch Campus for David Puckett’s latest book titled One Step Away: Memoirs of a Fly Fisherman.
From the time David was old enough to follow his dad in the small streams of Middle Tennessee he knew fly fishing would be an important part of his life. Two decades later while teaching and raising a family in Western North Carolina he was introduced to dry fly fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains by a couple of neighbors who were taught the art from their childhood.
After returning to Roane State in 1994, David made several trips with Harold Underwood and Pete Charton to the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming to fly fish and to explore the area. On several occasions they stayed in a cabin built by Mike Curran and his father in Gore Pass in Northern Colorado.
One Step Away is about adventures fly fishing and creating close relationships in some of the most beautiful country.
David will share memories of Roane State’s early founders, read from his book and sign personal copies. Copies of David’s book will be available for purchase ($15: cash, credit or check).
David’s previous book, Per Usual, James Roy, is available for checkout at the Harriman and Oak Ridge campus libraries.
Please help the library celebrate David’s continued success.
